The Best Bedside Cot

The cribs are designed to be placed at your bedside they help you to reach your baby at 3 am for feedings at night or changing their nappies. They also make a great alternative to a Moses basket.

The Lullaby Trust, NHS and other safe sleep experts recommend that newborns are kept in a crib that is away from your bed. This will prevent the risk of suffocation and overheating. Our mum testers were thrilled with this cozy solution with smooth gliding motions to lull babies back to sleep.

1. Joie Roomie Glide

The Roomie Glide bedside cot is an innovative product from English brand Joie. It was designed to let you sleep together without sharing your bed. It has a smooth, single-hand glide that gently soothes baby into dreamland without you having to get off your side of the bed. It also has an easy-to-use glide lock that locks it in place after your child is fast asleep. There are also safety straps that secure it to your bed, and retractable wheels that let you move it as you wish to.

The curvaceous cocoon design softly padded sides, and double-mesh windows increase the security and comfort of your child's sleeper. It's also easy to assemble and disassemble, making it perfect to travel with and pack away. The cot is simple to wipe clean and comes with a machine-washable mattress cover. Roanna was awed by this cotbed and said it was "a top-quality purchase". She loved that the smooth motion was gentle and lulled her to sleep. She also thought that the design was stylish and that it would go with the majority of bedroom decors. However, she did point out that although it's a great choice for newborns, once they're six months old you will need to buy them an extra large cot.

She also liked that the sliding side panel could be moved down with one hand, meaning she could easily respond to wake-up calls from her bed to feed or comfort her infants. Another benefit was the fact that the Roomie Glide has 11 height adjustments, so it can be adjusted to almost any size bed, and comes with clips and straps to hold it securely.
